Lots of great places to visit.. but very busy even at end of September either leave early in the morning and probably don't sail.. and get a spot. Alternatively leave later, enjoy the afternoon breeze but you have to get creative with the parking

Often there is no water or electricity or neither at the pier. Although the area is considered family-friendly, we have had strong winds (7 Bft) from the front for the last three days.

We covered 220 nautical miles during this navigation from Athens to Paros, with particular favorites for Poros, Seriphos, folegandros and foufonisia (in the small Cyclades) An inexhaustible playground!

Great team at MG yatchs. All went smoothly from pick up to return. Slight problem the air conditioning wasn't working but it was fixed on return on Friday.

What a professional and friendly land crew. From the office to the guys going through the boat, Alex in particular stood out, really helpful, professional and spoke really good English. Boat was really well presented throughout with everything clean and tidy, sails in excellent condition and all lines good. No criticisms at all perfect for a week/fortnights cruising around the Saronic

George, our skipper, handled the boat beautifully and we managed to travel to several islands where we swam in crystal clear water. Vassiliki assisted with everything on the day and ensured that we had ice-cold drinks. The boat was in immaculate condition and well equipped with a shower to wash off the sea water after swimming as well as a good fridge / Bluetooth for your music. Highly recommend.

Oft gibt es kein Wasser oder keinen Strom oder keins von beiden an der Pier. Obwohl das Revier als famiilenfreundlich git, hatten wir an den letzten drei Tagen heftigen Wind (7Bft) von vorn.

The high period in Athens runs typically from May to mid-September. During this period, you'll have incredible weather and calm waters. Because of this, we recommend booking well in advance if you plan to hire a sailboat or catamaran. Depending on your experience, you can hire a yacht with a skipper or a bareboat. If you want to hire a boat in Greece, you will need to have a license and previous experience. It is advised to have an ICC, but it is not mandatory. If you want to hire a motorboat, you'll need a license for boats exceeding 30hp.

In terms of pricing, you'll have a wide range of options available depending on your budget. For yacht charters during the high season, you can expect to pay 400€ a day on average for a catamaran and 300€ for a sailboat in Athens. If you would like to go for a motorboat hire in Greece, the possibilities are endless and the price range is much wider.

Boat Availability in Athens

Due to the high demand in Athens, we highly recommend booking and planning your trip well in advance. For yacht charters, a majority of the fleet is already booked by early March (approximately 60%) and the inventory only decreases until the high season. For bookings from May to September, ideally, you need to start the search in December or January to assure you find the boat of your dreams. If you don't find the boat you want in Athens you could also hire a boat in Lavrion, hire a boat in Poros, or hire a Yacht in Alimos
