Easy navigation area, renting a motor boat allows you to go a little further than the known beaches which are “served” by taxi boats
Zone de navigation facile, la location d’un bateau à moteur permet d’aller un peu plus loin que les plages connues qui sont « desservies » par des bateaux taxi

Leave Pianotolli Caldarello (Figari), direction Capo di Feno, mouth of Bonifacio, just before the Pertusato lighthouse, the Sdragonato cave, head for the Lavezzi on the south side (lots of people but lots of fish). Direction Sardinia, go around the Magdalenna and pass under the bridge which connects the 2 islands. Return to Cavallo Island.

Renting a Boat in Corsica

Even though it belongs to France, Corsica has a very unique and distinct culture. Having a rich history and unmatched beauty, you will experience some of the best sailings in this region. Being one of the largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea means it has a big coast suitable for sailors. With approximately 1,000 kilometres, there is a lot to be discovered and it will definitely be an unforgettable experience!

When sailing in Corsica, you'll be able to see different natural landscapes that vary depending on the region you are sailing in. From Calvi in the north all the way down to Bonifacio in the south, you'll find unique landscapes and hidden beaches. If you plan on circling the entire island, it can be done in a week, but it will be rushed. For this beautiful island, you should plan for more than a week to fully relax and take in all of the sights of this unique island.

Hire a boat in Ajaccio and plan an itinerary to sail along the coast. Do not forget to visit the cities of Porto VecchioPropriano and Saint Florent.

How much does it cost to hire a boat in Corsica?

The prices depend on the time of year. Typically during summer, which is the high season in Corsica, the prices will be higher than in spring or autumn. Depending on the type of charter you'd like, a typical catamaran hire will start at 400€ a day and a sailboat will be on average 300€ per day.

When renting a motorboat, you'll have different options in Corsica ranging from small fishing boats all the way to luxury yachts. Regarding the price, your possibilities are endless and you'll be able to find a boat that fits perfectly in your budget for the exact activity you want.

Boat availability in Corsica

For Corsica, the high season for yacht hires begins in early May and runs all the way into September. In the months of July and August, the crowds get a bit bigger as this is the main vacation period for both France and Italy. Due to this, if you plan on sailing during this period it is highly suggested to book a boat and marina space well in advance. Plan your activities in advance in order to find the perfect boat for your needs.

Do I need a license to hire a yacht in Corsica?

When sailing in France, it is recommended to have an ICC, but it is not required. The most important part of sailing in Corsica is to have experience. When hiring a yacht, you'll be asked to fill in a nautical cv to explain your previous experience in terms of destination and type of boat. Unlike sailboats, you will be required to present a valid license when renting a motorboat.

Overview of Corsica

Corsica is located 200 kilometres south of the Riviera, west of Tuscany and north of Sardinia. It is an island full of geographical diversity. With more than 1000 kilometres of coastline and with the highest mountain peak 2710 meters, it is full of landscapes and tons of activities to partake in. Diving, water sports, hiking, rafting, and canyoning, you will find both the benefits of the sea and the mountains in one little corner of paradise.

Choosing a beach to take in some sun might seem like a daunting task due solely to the amount of them available to you. To start your trip, the most common place to depart on your yacht hire is Bastia. For that reason, we suggest hitting the Plage de Palombaggia on the southeastern coast. With incredibly clear blue waters and beautiful scenery, this is one of the more popular beaches in Corsica. If you’re looking for a more private beach, Arinella Beach will be more your speed. The beach is surrounded by hills giving you a real feel of the island and the turquoise water has been a snorkeler's dream for decades.

When sailing in Corsica, you can typically get to know the island in one or two weeks. The interesting thing about Corsica is depending on what part of the island you are in, you'll find the coast and scenery completely different. If you are sailing the coast of Bonifacio, you will see the natural beauty provided by the rich, green scenery. From Bonifacio, you can head south to Sardinia where you will be able to sail to Olbia
