With this boat Sessa Marine also realizes a very interesting project, which makes its modularity a great strength. In fact, there are three models that arise from this study which intelligently declines in the Open, Hard Top and T-Top versions a design basis where the key values are habitability and beauty. The flagship version of this new model is certainly the Hard-Top, and today we'll try it together, in a world preview. Climbing aboard the new Sessa C3X, one cannot help but notice how the actual dimensions are truly exaggerated. With an overall length of more than eleven meters (37ft) and a beam of about three and a half meters, the Sessa C3X in fact offers much larger boat spaces. You enter the cockpit by climbing a step from the large aft platform. To port we immediately find a generously sized sundeck which, thanks to a folding backrest, also becomes the aft sofa of the U-shaped dinette with a central table, which is opposed to a wet bar capable of containing everything needed for a day at sea. Moving towards the bow, to port, there is space for a huge chaise longue which, extremely comfortable, will certainly be the most sought after place by the whole crew. Corresponding to it, to starboard, we find a decidedly well-organized command cockpit, equipped with excellent all-round visibility and capable of containing all the necessary electronics. This whole area is dominated by the large full-beam sliding roof which, when open, effectively regulates the air flow during navigation and, when closed, shades the external open space. Finally, the bow is accessed via two symmetrical side decks which, another positive note, are much wider than average and allow a very safe passage towards the huge sundeck that awaits us. But it is going below deck that we are literally amazed. The space that welcomes us is enormous, it seems to be on board a 40-footer. To starboard, a second L-shaped dinette equipped with a folding central table which, if desired, can also become another bed. Following is a galley equipped with wall units which, taking advantage of the bow bulkhead, develops over an extension that is simply unthinkable for boats of this size, capable of easily accommodating sufficient supplies for medium-range cruises. On the left we find the bathroom which, equipped with a separate shower cubicle, is intelligently positioned amidships, thus managing to also fulfill the function of day toilet. To complete the unusual interiors of the new Sessa C3X there are two cabins which, in terms of size, finish and equipment, can easily be identified as two masters. The bow one is equipped with a raised central bed and is served on both sides by wardrobes, shelves and plenty of walking space. The stern one instead sees the king size bed positioned across the beam and even has a hallway equipped with wardrobes, shelves and a sofa. In short, a boat of truly unsuspected dimensions, with which to enjoy long and comfortable cruises, with the family or with a couple of friends. Sea Trial: Testing the new Sessa C3X In the engine room we have two Volvo DPS 350 horsepower petrol sterndrives which, I will never get tired of saying, are the best solution for this type of boat. Much lighter (and cheaper) than their diesel cousins, they are ideal if you don't intend to do 200/300 hours of navigation a year. Optionally, diesel or outboard versions are also available. Sitting comfortably in the command chair, I engage the gear and give the gas. Visibility all around is really good and it's very easy to manoeuvre, even in confined spaces. Leaving the port we give the gas and the Sessa C3X gets planing quickly, already at 12 knots she comes out of the water, detaches the wake and naturally relaxes. This feature also makes it possible to find a series of low cruising speeds which will prove to be important for navigation in rough seas or, more simply, for cruising without haste while enjoying the panoramas. Worthy of note are the speeds between 20 and 30 knots, here consumption is fairly constant, always less than 4 liters per mile. A really good result, thanks to a hull that glides on the water with little friction. But the Sessa C3X can give much more, it's an open and, despite the richness and size of the interiors, it must also be able to give sporting sensations so, let's stop delaying and let's give up the cuffs. The boat accelerates without apparent effort up to 35/36 knots and then, by trimming the engines a little, it accelerates again, until it reaches a speed of almost 40 knots, not bad for an open like this which, moreover, we are testing at full load. I reduce the speed to about 20 knots and then I turn decisively, the boat tilts and the adrenaline rises while the hull does its job keeping the Sessa C3X firmly in its trajectory. I counter-vibrate until we meet our own waves that the boat crosses without impacting. Then I get back on a straight course, at around 30 knots and enjoy the comfort. La versione di punta di questo nuovo modello è certamente la Hard-Top, ed oggi la proveremo insieme, in anteprima mondiale. Salendo a bordo della nuova Sessa C3X non si può fare a meno di notare come le dimensioni reali siano davvero esagerate. Con una lunghezza fuori tutto di più di undici metri (37ft) ed una larghezza di tre metri e mezzo circa, la Sessa C3X offre infatti spazi da imbarcazione di taglia decisamente superiore. Si entra in pozzetto salendo un gradino dalla grande plancia di poppa. A sinistra troviamo subito un prendisole di generose dimensioni che, tramite uno schienale ribaltabile, diventa anche il divano poppiero della dinette a U con tavolo centrale, a cui è contrapposto un mobile bar in grado di contenere tutto ciò che serve per una giornata in mare. Spostandoci verso prua, a sinistra, trova spazio una chaise longue enorme che, comodissima, sarà certamente il posto più conteso da tutto lequipaggio. In sua corrispondenza, a dritta, troviamo un cockpit di comando decisamente ben organizzato, dotato di unottima visibilità a 360 gradi ed in grado di contenere tutta lelettronica che serve. Tutta questarea è sovrastata dal grande tetto scorrevole a tutto baglio che, da aperto regola efficacemente gli afflussi daria in navigazione e, da chiuso, ombreggia lopen space esterno. Si accede infine a prua tramite due passavanti simmetrici che, altra nota positiva, sono ben più larghi della media e consentono un passaggio molto sicuro verso lenorme prendisole che ci aspetta. Ma è scendendo sottocoperta che, letteralmente, rimaniamo a bocca aperta. Lo spazio che ci accoglie è enorme, sembra di essere a bordo di un 40 piedi. A dritta una seconda dinette a L dotata di tavolo centrale abbattibile che, volendo, può anche diventare un altro posto letto. A seguire una cucina dotata di pensili che, sfruttando la paratia di prua, si sviluppa su un estensione semplicemente impensabile per barche di questa dimensione, in grado di ospitare facilmente le provviste sufficienti a crociere di medio raggio. Sulla sinistra troviamo il locale bagno che, dotato di box doccia separato, è posizionato intelligentemente a centro barca, riuscendo cosi ad assolvere anche alla funzione di day toilet. A completare gli interni fuori dal comune del nuovo Sessa C3X ci sono due cabine che, per dimensioni, finiture e dotazioni, possono tranquillamente essere identificate come due master. Quella di prua è dotata di letto centrale rialzato ed è servita ai due lati da armadi, mensole e spazio di calpestio in abbondanza. Quella di poppa invece vede il letto king size posizionato per baglio ed ha addirittura un disimpegno dotato di armadi, mensole e divanetto. Insomma una barca dalle dimensioni davvero insospettabili, con cui concedersi lunghe e comode crociere, in famiglia o con una coppia di amici. Prova In Mare: La prova della nuova Sessa C3X In sala macchine abbiamo due entrofuoribordo Volvo DPS da 350 cavalli a benzina che, non mi stancherò mai di dirlo, sono la soluzione migliore per questo tipo di imbarcazioni. Molto più leggeri (ed economici) dei loro cugini diesel sono lideale se non avete intenzione di fare 200/300 ore lanno di navigazione. In opzione sono ovviamente disponibli anche le versioni diesel o fuoribordo. Seduto comodamente nella poltrona di comando, innesto la marcia e do gas. La visibilità tutto intorno è davvero ottima ed è molto facile manovrare, anche in spazi ristretti. Usciti dal porto diamo gas e la Sessa C3X entra in planata rapidamente, già a 12 nodi esce dallacqua, stacca la scia e si distende naturalmente. Questa caratteristica consente inoltre di trovare una serie di basse velocità di crociera che si riveleranno importanti per le navigazioni con mare formato o, più semplicemente, per navigare senza fretta gustandosi i panorami. Degne di nota le andature comprse tra i 20 e i 30 nodi, qui il consumo è abbastanza costante, sempre inferiore ai 4 litri al miglio. Davvero un buon risultato, sitomo di una carena che scivola sullacqua sviluppando poco attrito. Ma la Sessa C3X può dare molto di più, è un open e, nonostante la ricchezza e la dimensione degli interni, deve essere in grado di regalare anche sensazioni sportive per cui, bando agli indugi e diamo fondo alle manette. La barca accelera senza sforzo apparente fino a 35/36 nodi e poi, trimmando un po i motori, accelera ancora, fino a sfiorare i 40 nodi di velocità, non male per un open come questo che, peraltro, stiamo provando a pieno carico. Riduco la velocità fino a 20 nodi circa e poi viro con decisione, la barca sinclina e ladrenalina sale mentre la carena fa il suo lavoro tenendo saldamente la Sessa C3X nella sua traiettoria. Controviro fino ad incontrare le nostre stesse onde che la barca attraversa senza impattare. Poi mi rimetto in rotta rettilinea, a circa 30 nodi e mi godo il comfort. Naviga davvero bene questa nuova Sessa C3X.
